A Better Place to Live

Community

UTA’s community organization activities are projects that bring together people affected by the same types of problems to work collectively for solutions.

HOUSING FOR ALL

Housing For All is an organizing campaign advocating for the expansion of permanently affordable housing for low and moderate income people throughout the Capital Region. Housing For All was organized as a response to the growing inequality in housing that impacts the many low and moderate income people in this area who pay too much of their income for rent because of the lack of affordable housing. SUPPORTING TENANTS

Ongoing support for tenants in organizing their buildings to protect their rights and to fight to expand low-income housing opportunities.

ORGANIZING EFFORTS

United Tenants organizing efforts of the past has led to the creation of the Albany Community Land Trust, Capital District Community Loan Fund, and the Affordable Housing Partnership.

Moratorium

NEW EVICTION MORATORIUM PROTECTIONS ARE IN EFFECT! Tenants facing eviction should fill out a Declaration of Hardship form and submit it to their landlord ASAP to have protections from eviction until 8/31/2021. Tenants should also provide a copy of the Hardship form to the court. A copy can be emailed to AlbanyCivilCourt@nycourts.gov or mailed to Albany City Court-Civil, 24 Eagle St. #209, Albany, NY 12207.
